Latest Hockey Pickups - All Related to Hockeyville, USA

I was very lucky and picked up 3 team sets. It's pretty rare to find the minor league cards listed as a team set or at a reasonable price. They're usually pieced out as singles for $2 a card.

But first, these three random Chiefs alumni pickups. I love the foreign cards, especially SeReal cards for the KHL, like this Kvapil. Bob Woods was our captain for a number of years, still holds the record for goals scored by a defenseman in the ECHL, and rose as high as an NHL assistant when he began coaching. You're all familiar with Shelley by now, whether from watching hockey or listening to me yammer on about local hockey lore over the years .

Next up, a nearly complete set (24 of 27 cards) of the 2000-01 Chiefs. The only cards missing are non-players. The highlights are former Penguin Dany Sabourin, a signed Scott Allen (former NHL player and assistant), and a local legend and another favorite of mine in Dmitri Tarabrin.

Tarabrin beings at the 1:30 mark. Skip ahead and see the legend that was nicknamed "Demo" :

I also picked up the 2005-06 team set. Randy Rowe finished as one of the top 15 all-time scorers in ECHL history. Morgan Cey is a Notre Dame alumni (gotta try and draw TCS interest any way I can!). I couldn't help but post the Tarabrin from this set as well.

And now for my favorite pickup - the 18 card 1989-90 team set. I had this set when I was a kid, but the cards have ether been lost or damaged by now. In my experience, this is one of the most valuable minor league hockey sets of the 80s-90s. Steve Carlson is who gives value to this set, and is easily the highlight card of my latest maildays. Rick Boyd was a favorite of mine as a little kid, and the video below will show you why. Darren Schwartz went on to become an ECHL Hall of Fame player.
