My Rolling Pickups Thread : Lightning and Johnstown Hockey

Welcome to my newly created hockey pickups thread. Aside from the Lightning, you'll see a lot of "random" players that all have a connection to my hometown hockey teams (Johnstown Jets, Chiefs, & Tomahawks).

You can always view my full hockey collection through these two links :
    Tampa Bay Lightning : http://cardmagnet.info/tampa-bay-lightning-hockey-cards.htm
    Johnstown Hockey : http://cardmagnet.info/hometown-collection/johnstown-hockey.htm

First up, the legendary Steve Carlson. He fronted the Hanson brothers in the greatest hockey movie of all time, played for the Jets, coached the Chiefs, is the only player to have played on a team with both Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky, and most importantly, taught me to ice skate.

Next up, some assorted Johnstown Chiefs players, including my favorite NHL-active Chief, Jay Rosehill. I was pleasantly surprised to open a package and see his RPA /38 from The Cup staring back at me. I'll only post the prospects/rookies and inserts.

I got 17 of the 20 cards from the 1991 team issued set. I used to have all of these old sets when I was a little kid, but sadly they did not survive my childhood. The highlight cards of this set are Steve Carlson, ECHL Hall of Famer & Anaheim Ducks assistant Bob Woods, plus there's a name familiar to you Pens fans with Dana Heinze (he was equipment manager for Stanley Cup winning teams in Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh).

I decided to include those who came to town and dropped the first pick for the Tomahawks part of my collection, so I grabbed this Chris Kunitz Cracked Ice /30. It's the first Cracked Ice I've held in hand, and damn are they nice.

Time to close it out with some Bolts. The Conacher is one of only two cards made with him in Tampa Bay uniform, and is a pretty cool piece. It's thick plastic and has a block of ice design to it. The printing on it is done in layers. I also love the prizm Fire on Ice cards. Definitely nice in hand. St. Louis Green /25, Lecavalier Toronto Fall Expo /35

Well, that'll do it. Thanks for checking out the hockey cards that Santa, aka my awesome parents, left in my stocking.

Awesome stuff, man. Love the old school pickups of the Bowman & Pro Set cards, as well as that Chiefs team set.

Nice! Good to see some hockey pickups. I love the Steve Carlson auto and the story behind it is even better. Very cool collection, I like that you pick up cards from your hometown teams. I love the older base cards as well. Congrats on the new pickups.

RE: My Rolling Pickups Thread : Lightning and Johnstown Hockey Heavy

Small update here. The Stamkos is a late straggler from Christmastime, and the St. Louis is a product of ebay bucks.

I really like the look of the crystal and the enforcer auto is cool with the blood spatter.
